Davao City - Holy Child Secondary Boys Basketball defends its title as the Champion for the Davao City Athletics Association (DCAA) Meet 2019 after defeating tough competitor Davao Jones Academy Spunky, bannering Unit 8, during a close fight Finals held early this morning at the Holy Cross of Davao College.

The entire gymnasium of Holy Cross was filled with yells and cheers from the Holy Child crowd. Administrators, teachers, students, athletes, parents, friends, avid supporters and alumni get together to cheer for the Red Eagles banner.

With most of the Palarong Pambansa veterans graduated last school year, the Red Eagles are faced with veteran and confident Spunky. As expected, it was a spectacle to watch the two strong teams compete for the coveted DCAA 2019 Championship title to move one step closer to Palarong Pambansa

Davao Jones lead the first quarter putting Holy Child to an early penalty situation. But, the Red Eagles were determined. Victor Bedoya lead the team to trail behind the Spunky's 2 point lead, 22-24. The Spunky's retained their lead on the second quarter finishing it with two scoring freethrows by Ivan Lavador, 42-47.

Feeling the energy of the crowd, the Red Eagles soar back and regained themselves with the help of Aeron Awe and Kyle Jamora. Awe tied the game at 61 points and Kyle finishes the third quarter with a buzzer beater 3 point shot from behind, 67-65. Entering the fourth quarter, things got a little more intense and exciting as the two teams are head to head answering every shots to close the score gap. Holy Child was placed at the edge and suffered another penalty situation. But it did not stop them to leave the Spunkies even further. 14 seconds left and Askiah Echavia's foul to Miguel Belicario made a difference. Davao Jones was placed to penalty, giving Belicario two freethrows where he torched one out of the the two increasing the lead to 3 points. Echavia tried to recover trying to score from the perimeter but the time ran out.

Holy Child ends the game with a 3 point lead finish, 85-82. The 4th straight time the Red Eagles clawed the title. Aeron Awe leads the team with 19 points, followed by Kyle Jamora with 14 points and Victor Bedoya with 13 points.

The students, teachers, admin officials, parents, alumni and fans of the Red Eagles filled the entire Holy Cross Gym with their cheers for the team. 
Loud crowd cheered for Holy Child and celebrated the team's victory. Holy Child College of Davao, bannering Unit 7, is coached by Coach Nestor "Tating" Sorrosa and Coach Roger Rabago. The team is composed of a solid Holy Child line up John Carl Aballe, Philip Miguel Anasco, Aeron Jeswill Awe, Victor Joshua Bedoya, James Dean Michaelson Belicario, Kerk Jaybez Cadayona, Raven Gumban, Kyle Francis Jamora, John Deanyel Orac, Axl Ross Taporco and Rysan Villasenda.
